Carl Caven Williams, (The Maestro), was born December 15, 1960 to the late Charlie Sr. and Velma Williams. He entered heaven's gate on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at 11:30a.m. Carl was preceded in death by his brothers Amos, Lawrence, and Charlie Jr., Williams, Reed Roberson, sister Karen Willams, and nephew Dwayne Williams. He was baptized at an early age at Loving Four Tabernacle Baptist Church, by the late E.L. Cooper, Sr. He later joined the Rosedale Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Andrew Darby Sr. After Hurricane Katrina, he joined the Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Richard Keller, where he remained under the leadership of Rev. Corey A. Cooper, Sr. His passion was music. He was instructed by his parents, Charlie Sr. and Velma Williams, Mrs. Edna M. Darby Cornin, the late Mrs. Jessie W. Chriss, Ms. Betty Blanq and the late Professor David Delisle. He graduated from Marion Abramson Senior High school in 1979 and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1983. Carl's career included a former music teacher of New Orleans, Public School System; former organist of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic School Masses, Greater Little Rock, Greater Providence, The Asia B.C., Crescent City Senior Citizens Choir, Rosedale M.B.C., Amazon B.C., Kenner Community Choir, a piano instructor of New Orleans Recreation Department Culture Division, accompanist for NORD Senior Citizens Choir, and directed the National Congress Choir, Doctor Sneed, past President. He was a member of Pride of Algiers Lodge No.102 PHA Masonic Temple. Carl was also a member of the First District Missionary Baptist Association. He was the organist / director for the Chorus and Laymen's Chorus for many years. He was inducted in The First District Missionary Baptist Association, Dr. Robert Turner, Sr., Living Legends in April 2021. Carl leaves to cherish his memories, his sister Mary Ann Morris; devoted care giver, god child, and nephew, Charles Williams; three brothers, Bruce, (Pauline), Clyde, (Bernadette), and Glenn Williams; god children, Carissa Cooper, Glenn Jr. and Elijah Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends also pastor, officers and members of Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, officers and members of First District Missionary Baptist Association all aforementioned churches and organizations are invited to attend the Celebration of Life on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, 2100 St. Roch Avenue, beginning 11 am. Rev. Corey A. Cooper, Sr., officiating. Church visitation 9am until service time. Entombment Mt. Olivet Cemetery and Mausoleum.
