Evangelist Keith Sam

d. April 5, 2024

  • Evangelist Keith A. "Lil Brother" Sam, age 65, heard the voice of Jesus saying, come unto me and rest. Evangelist Keith peacefully entered the "Pearly Gates" on Friday, April 5, 2024. He was born September 29, 1958 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the son of Delores M. Sam and the late Norris Sam Sr. Following his high school years, he entered and completed a 2 year career in Building Maintenance Training at the Job Corps in St. Marcos, Texas. He worked 1 year, laboring at a construction company. In 1976, he became well-known as an Evangelist with his powerful preaching and sharing the Gospel. Firmly planted in the ministry, Evangelist Keith Sam continued to evangelize, seeing many delivered and saved by the power of God across the world. His unwavering desire to share wisdom and experience, earned him the love of many. He was referred to as "John the Baptist," and "The Umbrella Preacher." He was an avid scrípture reader and wrote scriptures down on paper to study daily. He traveled worldwide, preaching the Gospel for years. His ministry began back in 1975 while attending the Job Corps. During those times a riot occurred on the base leading to great hostility and attacks among people and his peers. Many of the young men were attending church at Job Corps. Following the riot, he was persuaded to go to the chapel on the base. It was there that he heard the voice of the Lord calling him into his purpose in Jesus Christ. He stood firm on God's word and fellowship with other believers around the world. He became a dedicated imitator of Christ! He prayed continuously and obediently with God's guidance for anyone in need of prayer. If anyone had God's ear to get a prayer through, it was Lil Brother.  In the following years, he again got a calling; this time to be an ordained minister. This was another great joy and passion for him given his devout feelings for praying for others. Evangelist Keith Sam continued to preach the gospel to others until the end of his days, standing on the scripture "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us," Roman 5:8.  He is survived by his mother, Delores Sam; sisters, brothers, and in-laws, Joyce Carter and Cynthia S. Gistrip of Atlanta, Georgia; Terri S. Boykins (Lyndon), Yvette S. Martin (Keith), Pamela Sam and Norris Sam, Jr., a host of aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends.
