Janice Alexander was called home to rest in eternal peace on Monday evening, July 1, 2024, in Las Vegas, NV. Janice was 80 years young. The daughter of the late Lewis and Ethel Alexander, Janice, affectionately known as “Black” was born on February 1, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana with her twin sister the late Janet “Peck” Holmes. She cherished her childhood memories with her twin and older sisters the late Cleo A. Edemon and Lois A. Steele. Janice was baptized and attended school at Saint Raymond Catholic Church and was brought up in the Catholic faith. She was a devoted mother to Jadon C. Burns and the late John Murray Jr. Janice spent her career as a custodian supervisor with the New Orleans Adolescent Hospital and retiring from University Medical Center. Her home was open for 18 years to countless children living in Foster Care and in her later years served at Catholic Charity as a senior care aide. She leaves a legacy to cherish her memory by her devoted daughter Jadon C. Burns, grandchildren Cody, Jada (Larry), and Roger Jr., great granddaughters Gianna, Jala, Jordyn, Lena Jolie, and Logan, Godson Byron, beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. Relatives and friends also priest, and parishioners are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 411 N. Rampart Street beginning 10 a.m., Father Tony Rigoli, OMI celebrant. Church visitation 9 a.m. until hour of service. Interment St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery.
