Katie M. Gavin

Ms Katie Mae Gavin passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at her home in Algiers, LA at the age of 96. She was born August 11, 1928. Katie was born in Centreville, MS. She lived in Algiers, LA for 12 years. Katie attended Gloster Public schools in Gloster MS and was a homemaker and worked as a sitter most of her working life. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and aunt. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, James Walker, Claudell Walker, Bessie Moore, Nero Curtis Walker (Thursa), John Edward Walker (Onita), Lee Roy Walker and Jerry Dennis Walker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nero ‘Doc’ Chapman and Maggie Bailey Chapman, her daughter, Liza Marie Anderson, her husband, Thomas Gavin, her sister, Leah Dixon, her brother, Will Henry Chapman. Ms Katie accepted Christ at an early age and continued to serve him throughout her years. She was a member of the Church of the Living God for many years. She became a virtual member of the Word Church in Algiers months ago. Family and Friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life service on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Littlejohn Funeral Home, 2163 Aubry Street, N.O. LA 70119. Visitation starts at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Curtishia Lawrence officiating.
