New Orleans

Lawn L Magee was born December 2, 1944, in Osyka, Mississippi to the union of the late Pearlie Magee and Katie Lowe Magee. Lawn L grew up in Osyka, MS and moved to New Orleans, LA in 1969 to pursue work. He worked for Sewerage and Water Board and various construction sites until he found a career with Boh Bros. Construction as a carpenter for 25 years, with whom he retired in 2000. Lawn L was a great provider and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family, cruising and traveling. Spoiling his grandkids gave him great joy. He loved to Bar-B-Que and like any man, he thought his was the best. News flash…it was! Lawn L enjoyed sports, ALL sports but none more than his New Orleans Pelicans and you better not forget the New Orleans Saints- WHO DAT! A few of Lawn L’s favorite songs were ‘On Time God’, ‘I Won’t Complain’ and ‘Two Wings’. Lawn L met his faithful wife Linda in 1992 and in his words ‘she had my nose wide open’. So ‘open’ he married the love of his life April 10, 1993. He knew that having Linda and her kids in his life also came with a church family. A church family he loved very much. He became a member and usher at First Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Uyless D. Landry Sr. He took his job of being a doorkeeper for the Lord VERY serious. Now under the leadership of Pastor Uyless D. Landry III he continued to be faithful until his health declined.  On May 26, 2024, Lawn L was summoned by God to take his eternal rest at the age of 79. He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife and caregiver Linda Magee, 4 children - Vanessa Magee Ringold of Sacramento, CA., Denise (Henry) Magee Weatherspoon of Osyka, MS., Runelle (Shana) Magee of Memphis, TN., and Jeffery (Debra) Magee of Summit, MS., 3 bonus children – Christina (Justin) Hayes of Cleveland, TN., Shakendre’ (Torey) Mayotte of Chattanooga, TN., and Alvin Warner of Cleveland, TN., his grandchildren Gabrielle Ringold, Jaliyah Magee, Donovan Magee and Kirsten Warner.
