Melissa Shawan Franklin entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Golden Age of Welsh, Louisiana. Loving mother of Dwayne and Maliyah Franklin and Brett Bennett Jr.; Daughter of Mildred W. Franklin and the late Ernest Franklin; Sister of E. Dwight, Aaron B., Kenneth G. and Kevin L. Franklin; Grandmother of DeJa M. Franklin and Autumn Z. Thompson; Niece of Felix Johnson Jr. Also survived by Sisters-in-Love, Louella and Terri B. Franklin and Lisa G. Derry; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church #2, Second Free Mission Baptist Church, Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Christian Baptist Church of Lake Charles, LA  and the church community of New Orleans, employees of Whole Food Store Magazine Street  are invited to attend the Eulogistic Celebration  Service on Sunday, March 11, 2018 beginning 5:00 p.m. at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church #2, 2601 Jackson Avenue,  Rev. Sam Johnson, host pastor, Rev. Troy Johnson, eulogist. Family visitation from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the church. Interment Providence Park Cemetery on Monday, March 12, 2018 for 10:00 a.m.  Rev. David M. Patin Sr. and Gwiena Magee Patin, Directors.
