Vera Frezel Fulton peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the remarkable age of 100 and a half, in Zachary, LA. Surrounded by her loving family, Vera transitioned from this world to her heavenly home. She was born in New Orleans, LA to the late Elizabeth and Edward Frezel. Vera was the beloved wife to the late Irvin David Fulton, Sr., and together they had one son, Irvin David Fulton, Jr. (Gay). A proud lifelong resident of the Lower Ninth Ward community. Vera was both educated and employed within the area she called home. She made her mark as a talented hairdresser and dedicated worker in the Orleans Parish Schools’ food service program. Vera leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her son, Irvin David Fulton, Jr.; her grandchildren Irvin David Fulton III (Earlene), Erika Elisabeth (Sean) Joseph, and Roderick Rowe Fulton (Whitney); her great grandchildren Elyse and Symon Joseph and Chandler Jones; her niece Eve Frezel; her nephews Byron (Ethelyn), Cecil (Barbara), Marc, and Maurice Frezel. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, her Lower Ninth Ward Community and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth and Edward Frezel; her husband, Irvin David Fulton Sr.; her brother, Pete (Anniebelle) Frezel; her sister, Ethel (Sidney) Harris; her daughter-in-law Gay Rowe Fulton, and her nephew Isaac (Caroline) Frezel. Vera’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering faith. She embraced every moment with joy and made a significant impact on her community and everyone she met. Her journey through a century of life was filled with wisdom, laughter, and countless memories that will be cherished by her family and friends. Relatives and friends, also pastor, officers and members of New Israel Baptist Church, Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, First Thessalonians Missionary Baptist Church and Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, officers and members of Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) and The Freedmen Chorus, administrators and seniors of Council on Aging, members of Lower 9 Mission and Spurs and administrators, staff and seniors of Lower 9 Senior Center are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, 2515 Franklin Avenue, beginning 10 am.
