Walter Pierre

Walter Alexander Pierre Sr., “Scar” was born on March 20, 1951 to the late Leona Steib Pierre and Dennis Ester in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was educated in the New Orleans Public Schools. He was employed by HANO where he was a maintenance worker for many years. Walter was baptized at an age by the late Rev. A.L. Davis at New Zion Baptist Church. Later he united with The Way Jesus Christ Christian Church under the pastorate of Dr. David M. Patin Sr. where he served as the  Sound Man, Security and Building Facilitator.  Walter enjoyed fishing, raising and caring for fish. He also enjoyed playing dominoes and eating sweets. He had his way of doing things and there was no changing of that. Walter leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Ruby Pierre; son Walter Alexander Pierre Jr.; two granddaughters, Brandy and Brittani; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia (Richard Sr.) Growe, Denise (Shelton) Pierre and Brenda Pierre; step brother Walter (Nine) Solomon; two stepsons, Deddrick (Kelly) Pierre and Keddrick (Chanta)  Pierre; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn Allen, Barbara Ann Harris, Mary Ann Veals, Melvin Veals and Larry Williams. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and The Way JCCC New Orleans and Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bernard Steib; nephews, Richard Growe Jr., and Brandon Miller; mother-in-law, Rosa Lee Veals, a host of aunts and uncles.
